Ahead of the 2022 edition, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair has embarked on a tour that is taking in book fairs all over the world, enabling face-to-face meetings once again with members of the professional community
The tour began at the Frankfurt Book Fair, from 20 to 24 October and then continued to Sharjah International Book Fair (3-13 November 2021), with Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (27 November - 5 December 2021) and the Salon du livre et de la presse jeunesse de Montreuil (1-6 December 2021) as next stops.
The Bologna Children's Book Fair is the world’s leading professional event dedicated to the children's publishing industry attracting over 1,400 exhibitors and around 30,000 visitors from around 80 countries.
The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is an industry leading event that has succeeded in bringing together a unique and diverse global audience thanks to over 50 years experience. The result is the world’s premium copyright exchange hub when it comes to publishing which also extends to current multimedia and licensing businesses for children’s stories, illustration, animation and related areas.
Publishers, illustrators, graphic designers, literary agents, authors, translators, mobile developers, licensors and licensees, packagers, printers, distributors, audiobook professionals, booksellers, brands, librarians and teachers all flock to the event each spring to experience the world of books and multimedia products in thousands of booths across six huge halls.
The world famous Illustrators Exhibition and industry recognized BolognaRagazzi awards are some of key pillars that make this event so special: BCBF is a unique mix of a cultural book show and an international rights business forum for all types of content for children.
21 March: Bologna has chosen the first day of spring to welcome the world of children's and general publishing. An appropriate date for a new beginning!
After two years of intense long-distance dialogue, exciting virtual encounters, research and planning, we are extremely happy to be meeting again in person.
This year, Bologna Children's Book Fair welcomes an exciting major addition: the first in-person edition of BolognaBookPlus (BBPlus), the new initiative aimed at a broader professional audience across the global publishing industry, organised in partnership with the Italian Publishers Association (AIE). BBPlus will be co-located with BCBF. Exhibiting opportunities are available now, alongside a comprehensive agenda of events, networking and matchmaking elements, and a topical seminar programme.
BCBF will present its impressive flagship initiatives – from awards to exhibitions, from meetings to special areas – with some exciting additions: the much-awaited Comics Corner, a fascinating focus on African publishing, a revamped Bologna Licensing Fair (BLTF/Kids) entirely dedicated to the kids’ world, relocated this year at the heart of BCBF, and Sharjah’s programme as 2022 Guest of Honour.
The 2022 BCBF Visual Identity was created by the young Mexican artist Sólin Sekkur. It will form the creative backdrop in the coming months, as excitement builds for the publishing calendar’s biggest get-together of children’s content.
Save the date and join us in Bologna: 21-24 March 2022!
The BLTF/Kids has become an integral part of Bologna Children’s Book Fair. In 2022 will be located at the heart of the fair. Bringing together the major international licensing and entertainment players, BLTF will feature more than 600 Brands, the Licensing Retail Lounge, the Fashion Product Showcase, and an area dedicated to Licensees looking for new retail deals.
The exciting programme of events will include seminars, presentations and the 2nd edition of the International Kids Licensing Day, focussed on the latest topics and trends in the kids licensing industry and kids contents business. This will feature important insights and tips to help navigate the future of the children’s licensing market.
BLTF is also part of the Global Rights Exchange (GRE), the digital platform launched by BCBF in 2020; the GRE/BLTF section is aimed at supoporting all year round the development of properties and brands into the consumer product, publishing and audio-visual sectors for children, teens and young adult.
